A Conversation About Predictive and Adaptive Project Management

Have you been piqued by the emergence of Agile? Do you wonder whether it’s overblown and all a bunch of hooey? Does some of it seem remarkably familiar? In a conversational format inviting audience questions at the end, long time project professionals Jeff Oltmann and Jean Richardson will discuss their perspectives on predictive and adaptive project management.

About the Speaker

Over the course of nearly 25 years, Jean Richardson has become experienced in coaching, agile and traditional project management, requirements and business analysis, and training. Her experience and career path have spanned both traditional and agile methods, frameworks, and cultural perspectives. The agile leadership model she espouses, Pervasive Leadership, is designed to help leaders set a collaborative context while still meeting their own stewardship responsibilities to the organization.

In addition to coaching and managing projects, Jean has been a Multnomah County Court mediator for the last 13 years and served as a Better Business Bureau arbitrator.  She currently serves on the Agile PDX steering committee, is co-founder of the Leadership Salon, serves in the role of PMI Chapter Engagement Representative for the Agile Community of Practice in Portland, and is a member of the Portland Chapter mentoring committee.  Her client list includes a wide range of businesses including ADP, Cambia Health Solutions, Chrome Systems, Idealist, Intel, Daimler Chrysler, Mentor Graphics, City of Portland, Oregon State Department of Human Services and Oregon Health Authority, Portland General Electric, Tripwire, and UTi.  She is currently writing a book on adaptive leadership practices for new and emerging leaders.

About the Speaker

Jeff Oltmann is principal consultant at Synergy Professional Services (www.spspro.com), where his specialties include strategy deployment, project excellence, and program and portfolio management.  He is on the graduate management faculty at Oregon Health and Science University and holds a Master of Engineering degree and a Project Management Professional credential.  Jeff previously ran a project management office (PMO) and $60M USD project portfolio for IBM’s xSeries development facility.  He has over 30 years of experience developing new products, managing successful programs, and consulting to management teams.   He is the founder of the Portfolio Management Roundtable.

About the Speaker

Mike Goss, PMP, DTM, always seems to color outside the lines. Personality profiles label him both “visionary” and “rebellious.” He challenges the status quo, to create better solutions and deliver richer outcomes.  Mike has been a college instructor, a computer store owner, a software consultant, an elevator salesman, a senior vice-president of a bank, an author and a keynote speaker. He has only been arrested once, and of course that was a misunderstanding. Mike earned his PMP credential in 2011, and his Distinguished Toastmaster credential in 2012. He brings a refreshing perspective to leadership, motivation and project management.
