Below are current opportunities to become involved with PMI Portland Chapter.

To get started:

  1. Log into VRMSif it’s your first time, see the VRMS Guide for detailed instructions on how to use the system.
  2. Review your volunteer profile and update your service history.
  3. Search and apply for opportunities that meet your interests and needs.
  4. Once you apply for a volunteer position, you will receive an email notification regarding the status of your application.
  5. Come back regularly to update your volunteer profile and service history, and search for more opportunities.
  6. You can search for opportunities to volunteer at our local PMI Portland Chapter or virtually worldwide.

To apply for any of the volunteer positions listed below:

Click the "Go to VRMS" link for to the position you are interested in. You will be taken to the PMI.org web site, where you must log in to the VRMS system. 

  • Chapter Members, log in with your PMI Global username and password.
  • Non-Members, create a username and password the first time you visit the VRMS system.
Search for Portland Chapter opportunities:

  • Select Portland Chapter under Communities
  • Click "Search"
  • A list of current opportunities will display below.

Registration Table Volunteer, Annual Conference

Reports to Registrations PM. Provide support for the conference registration to ensure attendees have a smooth, positive experience relating to registering for the event and being greeted at the registration table.

Director of Sponsor Programs, Marketing Portfolio

The Director of Sponsor Programs identifies and recruits sponsors for Chapter meetings and events such as the monthly Chapter meeting and Annual Conference in August. This function generates income and manages the relationship with sponsors.

ACP Certification Instructor, Prof. Dev. Team

Present ACP Certification Materials during a ACP preparation course for the PMI Portland Chapter.  This position reports to the Director of ACP Certification and intersects with other program curriculum instructors to ensure best practices in instructional methods and technical training to prepare for the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner Certification exam.

2013 Annual Conference

Assist Day of Event Manager with event activities on day of event. Required Skills: Good organizational skills. Ability to quickly access surroundings and environment and respond accordingly. Good communication and problem solving skills. Knowledge of audiovisual equipment (overhead projector/laptop hookup). Ability to work effectively with other team members.

Instructor, PMP/CAPM Certification Prep Course, Professional Development Team

Present PMI Knowledge Area during a PMP/CAPM preparation course for the PMI Portland Chapter.  This position reports to the Director of PMP/CAPM Certification and intersects with other program curriculum instructors to ensure best practices in instructional methods and technical training to prepare for the Project Management Professional Certification exam.

Mentoring Program Administrator,
Professional Development Team

Assist with administration of the Chapter Mentoring Program in two phases:
1. Session Administration: Collect electronic applications from mentors and mentees, help pair mentees to mentors, answer frequently asked questions, help with surveys
2. Recruitment/Promotion: Write newsletter articles, update Chapter website landing page for mentoring, work with Directors and Board members to create ideas for community integration, assist in attending Chapter meetings/roundtables to make announcements of the latest need or status of the  program.
