The VP Outreach provides leadership, management oversight, and guidance for outreach programs in the academic, corporate, and community arenas. The position acts as liaison between PMI-Portland and academia, business and community; and leads the process and implementation of outreach programs.
Follows Chapter bylaws, policies, and procedures; strive to fulfill the Chapter’s mission, values, and strategic plans.
Leads and oversees the chapter’s Academic, Corporate, and Community Outreach Programs.
Recruits sponsors for chapter dinner meetings and advertisers for the newsletter.
Develops contacts with corporations to encourage use of the jobs board.
Prepares the annual Outreach budget and submits to VP Finance.
This position will work closely with companies within the Northwest Oregon and Southwest Washington Region to better theChapter and promote Project Management.
The Director of EPMA serves as a working member of the Excellence in Project Management (EPM) Awards Program Committee under the functional direction of the President Elect. Their primary role is to develop a comprehensive communication plan in collaboration with the full committee then coordinate and lead the identified tasks.
Ensure that hiring orgs have a good experience when they use the chapter’s job matching services. Manage incoming request from companies wanting to hire a Project Manager.
Mission The PMI-Portland Chapter Outreach Committee is the liaison between PMI and the Corporate, Academic, and Community organizations located in the Chapter’s geographic area. The committee’s goal is to ensure that PMI is aware of and responsive to the project management needs of the organizations we serve, and that the organizations are aware of the project management profession, its benefits and accepted practices.
Outreach Programs Threeprograms have been formed to accomplish the mission of the Outreach initiative. Each program is led by project management processionals who, through their teams, develop strategies and tactics to further enhance project management throughout the community.
Corporate Outreach - the link between our chapter and our business community. The Corporate OutReach committee is in place to accomplish the following:
Understand the needs of the companies in the corporate community we serve
Identify the corporate and governmental organizations in the greater Portland metropolitan area that are candidates for involvement in PMI
Expand the awareness among candidate organizations of PMI and the Portland Chapter — the programs and services we offer
Increase the perceived value and recognition of the profession of project management among senior management and key personnel in corporate and governmental organizations
Have company executives expect more effective Project Management practice, to raise the expectations of company executives for more effective project management
Academic Outreach - the liaison between the PMI-Portland Chapter and local universities, colleges and other project management educational groups. The Academic OutReach committee will encourage local academic institutions to include PMI accredited project management courses as part of their core curricula, and to promote the value of PMI accredited courses among their students and prospective employers.
The Academic Outreach Committee is the liaison between the PMI-Portland Chapter and local universities, colleges and other project management educational groups. Its primary objective is to assist in the implementation of the Project Management Institute's Standards for curriculum development and content within project management educational programs. Goals of the Academic Outreach Committee:
Encourage local academic institutions to include PMI accredited project management courses as part of their core management curricula.
Assist in the implementation of PMI’s standards and practices in curriculum development and course content at regional academic institutions.
Promote the value of PMI accredited courses among students and prospective employers.
Understand the needs of the companies in the corporate community weserve.
Community Outreach - contributing to social and civic initiatives by providing volunteer assistance and expertise to community not-for-profit organizations. Through Community OutReach, the PMI-Portland Chapter endeavors to contribute to social and civic initiatives by providing volunteer assistance and expertise to community not-for-profit organizations to assist them in planning and managing their projects and programs. By participating in their strategic initiatives, PMI will both strengthen its ties to the community and promote the values and discipline of project management. Community OutReach provides an opportunity to contribute time and talents to a nonprofit in a meaningful and structured manner. Its purpose is to:
