The Chapter Membership portfolio promotes the value of chapter membership to chapter members, as well as to increase that value where possible. Membership consists of Volunteering, Communication, and Quality sub-committees.

At key milestones in a chapter member’s membership, we recognize, survey, reach out to new and renewing members, newly certified members, congratulate, serving and supporting existing members
To facilitate continuous improvement, we survey and analyze the results to assess the quality of Chapter programs and events.
Promote the benefits of volunteering and recruit fellow-volunteers to support and staff chapter programs and operations. Our goal is to regularly recognize and support our volunteers at all levels of commitment.
Respond to telephone inquiries of members, working closely with the chapter’s answering service to provide the fastest, most accurate, and highest-quality responses possible.
Part of supporting the chapter in operational activities will be to draft and ratify operational processes and procedures. This is a key step to chapter maturity. Processes identified for documenting and formalization include:
he Vice President Membership promotes chapter activities, events and membership services to include soliciting feedback from members on satisfaction with chapter programs
Follows Chapter bylaws, policies and procedures; strive to fulfill the Chapter’s mission, values, and strategic plans.
Ensures the chapter is serving the PMI-Portland members by welcoming new members, serving and supporting existing members and encouraging certification
Conducts and monitors quality of Chapter programs.
Coordinates and recruits volunteers to support and staff chapter programs.
Provides leadership for volunteers working on membership campaigns.
Answers questions that members or potential members have about PMI, the Portland Chapter, the field of project management, and their career.
Prepares the annual membership budget and submits to VP Finance.
The Director of Communications' responsibilities include connecting with new chapter members, existing members who are renewing their membership, congratulating new PMPs and connecting with potential members. Our goal is to reach out and be a resource to members to get involved in the chapter. PMI is a great way to develop skills in areas that may not be readily available in our day to day work space.

Program Manager, Member Inquiry Response (develop a sustainable program to effectively answer member telephone inquiries. Working closely with the chapter answering service vendor, common Q&As will be developed and implemented. Inquiries will be regularly analyzed for effectiveness. Vendor relationship and inquiry response performance will be monitored, reported on, and improved upon.)
Director of Volunteersdevelops and manages the chapter volunteer program. This program facilitates the recruiting of volunteers, maintaining chapter website volunteering content, communicating volunteering program status, and the recognition of outstanding volunteers through the chapter newsletter, website, and chapter dinner meetings. Director of Volunteers also oversees an annual Volunteer Recognition event, normally held near the end of the chapter year – May or June.
The Director of Quality surveys attendees at chapter events, analyses the results and reports to the Board of Directors with the goal of providing data to constantly improve chapter events. The Director of Quality also oversees the annual Membership survey to measure member satisfaction in a number of relevant areas.
