Considering my birthplace in Iowa, call me the ‘Duke of Dubuque”. Early on, I spent several years in the Navy managing electronics support teams in the waters of Indonesia and the Philippines and several US stations. While serving, I attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
More recently, I’ve spent over 13 years leading insurance, health care and energy-related project initiatives. Experienced at managing and contributing to both large and small projects and ‘rescuing’ flailing projects, while tailoring methodologies to the requirements of the organization, to consistently finish projects on time, under budget, and fulfilling customer expectations.
This past year, I've been honored to work with an outstanding team of volunteers as VP of Membership. We updated volunteering processes, expanded and streamlined communication and quality surveying processes, and started new member welcome meetings - all with the goal of developing improvements and efficiencies that will bring added value to our members.
In previous board of directors positions as VP At Large and VP of Marketing & Outreach, I provided leadership to establish chapter strategy and foster smooth operation of chapter events and activities. I enjoyed contributing to the strategic success of the chapter, and fostering relationships with chapter businesses, facilitating chapter sponsorship, advertising, involvement, and support.
My time as both a chapter member and as a volunteer board member has been extremely rewarding. On a daily basis, I apply the concepts I’ve learned here as I lead large and small projects as a senior Project Manager at PacifiCorp Energy in Portland.
